Vondel — concept space
Vondelstraat 142 · Oud-Zuid

We live slowly.
It shows.

Vondel is a small concept space tucked half a block from the Vondelpark. Objects from European workshops, the books we'd lend a friend, and the coffee we drink ourselves. Open since 2019, still no online shop.

In residence

A 1907 carriage house with a single window on the canal side and far too many chairs. We share it with our cat, Maartje, who has opinions.

Three things we sell.

Winter / 2026
N° 01 — Objects
From small European houses

The Object Edit

Hand-thrown stoneware from a studio in Friesland. Brass scissors from Solingen. A single linen sheet from a mill in northern Portugal that has been weaving since 1888.

N° 02 — Books
A small, opinionated library

The Reading Room

Fiction, art history, and the kind of cookbooks you read in bed. We don't carry bestsellers. We carry the book a friend pressed into our hand and changed our year.

N° 03 — Coffee
Single origin, four cups deep

The Coffee Bar

Two espressos. One single origin filter. A pour-over for the unhurried. We roast nothing — we serve beans from Friedhats in Amsterdam-Noord, who do it better than anyone we know.

What's on the
table this month

"The shop is a kind of slow letter to the neighbourhood. The cat helps." — Lieve & Pim, founders
Vondel is run by two people, one cat, and an ever-rotating apprentice from the Rietveld Academie. We answer email on Tuesdays.
